Shop with a Cop

In 2020, Captain Shane Whitley started the 1st Annual "Shop with a Cop" event.

What is Shop With a Cop?
The purpose of the event is to foster positive relationships between youth and officers and to help provide a Christmas to those who may otherwise not be able to have Christmas gifts.
Pageland Police Officers gathered with the kids and family members at the Pageland Community Center due to COVID restrictions in 2020, then the kids rode with police officers and were able to work the lights and siren in patrol vehicles all the way to Roses. At Roses, the kids were able to shop with officers to purchase necessary items for themselves such as clothes, shoes, etc. The kids were then able to purchase an item for their parents or siblings and then they were able to find toys or items that they wanted for Christmas. Then the kids rode with officers back to the community center where they were provided with pizza from PYG Pizza that was graciously donated toward the cause. The kids were then able to play several games with the officers and have a great time!
This event was a huge success! The officers and the kids had a great time during the entire event! It was a great event for officers to spend one on one time with kids and enjoy talking and learning about each of them and seeing the excitement in their faces to be able to spend time with officers and shop.
The event will continue throughout the years to come and hopefully be just as successful!
The "Shop with a Cop" was made possible by the donations that were given toward the event.
