Candidate & Officer Selection Process

The Pageland Police Department is searching for qualified applicants to fill entry-level Police Officer positions. The selection process consists of several steps that must be completed in their entirety prior to the hiring of an applicant.

Police Officer applicants who are not Certified Police Officers and/or who do not have previous Police Officer experience are considered to be POLICE OFFICER CANDIDATES.

All applications for employment as a Police Officer or Police Officer Candidate are completed through the Application tab.

Selection Process

After the application is completed, you must email the application to Captain Shane Whitley at [email protected]. If you are selected to move to the next process, the following will take place:

  • A Pageland Police Department Officer will  notify the applicant on the available dates to take the Police Officer Reading Agility Test and complete an interview with the Applicant Board Committee
  • Upon successful completion of this process the applicant may proceed onto the Background Investigation
  • Medical Exam (Drug/Alcohol Screening/Physical)
  • Psychological Exam
  • Interview with Administration and Town Administrator
  • Conditional Offer for Hire
  • All applicants selected for hire shall be subject to the successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period.

Upon employment with the Pageland Police Department, the new recruit will be required to participate and successfully meet the requirements and standards affixed to each Training Program. Areas of training include, but are not limited to:

  • Pageland Police Department Field Training Program (4-6 weeks)
  • South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy’s Pre Academy (4 weeks)
  • South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement School (8 weeks)
