Chief Short has 20 plus years of law enforcement experience, starting his career with the Lancaster City Police Department as a reserve police officer. After transitioning to a full-time officer, Chief Short rose through the ranks to Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant. Chief Short has worked in various divisions throughout the years consisting of being assigned to the Crime Suppression team, serving as training Lieutenant in the professional standards division, watch commander and served over a decade as a K-9 officer working with two different K-9's (Bruno and Kilo). Chief Short also was a member of the STAR team and SWAT team. Chief Short came to Pageland Police Department to serve as Captain and was ultimately chosen to lead the department as Chief of Police. Chief Short and his wife Lacey have 2 children and are active members of Antioch Baptist Church. Chief Short believes in building trust in the community by treating everyone with dignity and respect, listening to issues, being committed, and dedicated to relational policing, wherein each contact with a citizen is an opportunity to improve relationships and a means by which to build trust.
