Meet Chief Short – Chief of Police, Pageland Police Department

Chief Short brings over 20 years of dedicated law enforcement experience to the Pageland Police Department. His career began as a reserve police officer with the Lancaster City Police Department, where his commitment and work ethic quickly earned him a full-time position. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, serving as Corporal, Sergeant, and ultimately Lieutenant.

Throughout his career, Chief Short has held a variety of critical roles. He was assigned to the Crime Suppression Team and later served as the Training Lieutenant in the Professional Standards Division. He also served as a Watch Commander and spent over a decade as a highly skilled K-9 officer, working alongside two trusted partners—Bruno and Kilo. His extensive tactical experience includes time with both the STAR Team and SWAT Team.

Chief Short joined the Pageland Police Department as Captain and was later appointed Chief of Police. He leads the department with integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to community engagement.

Chief Short is a strong believer in relational policing—an approach that emphasizes treating every citizen with dignity and respect, actively listening to concerns, and using each interaction as an opportunity to build trust. His leadership style is rooted in transparency, service, and a genuine desire to create safer, stronger relationships between the police and the community.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Chief Short and his wife, Lacey, are proud parents of two children. They are active members of Antioch Baptist Church, where they remain deeply involved in their faith and local community.

Under Chief Short’s leadership, the Pageland Police Department continues to focus on accountability, community partnership, and fostering a culture of trust and mutual respect.
