The Pageland Police Department offers the public complimentary active shooter training called ‘Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events’ (CRASE), which focuses on three key actions: Avoid, Deny, and Defend (ADD).

This program provides businesses and organizations with critical information, training, and best practices related to prevention, deterrence, detection, and hands-on response to an Active Shooter/Intruder event.

The CRASE program is designed to foster a prevention mindset by:

Reinforcing the use and importance of safety measures already in place

Identifying and assessing potential threats (external/internal)

Promoting and encouraging the “See Something, Say Something” principle

The training lessons are structured for easy learning and retention, especially techniques that civilians can use to help save lives during the crucial moments before law enforcement arrives.

The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Organization (ALERRT) was developed in the aftermath of the 1999 Columbine High School tragedy. ALERRT enhances preparedness through focused training for both first responders and civilians in active shooter situations.
